“If possible, I like taking a little longer in the morning to get ready, and that’s why I can get through pretty much the whole day without any worries,” says musician Laura Põldvere. Already on 2 May, she is flying to Kyiv with Koit Toome to represent Estonia at this year’s Eurovision. Laura and Koit’s song ‘Verona’ was a strong winner in Estonia.
Two weeks in Kyiv means that Laura will be taking along a bag full of new and old cosmetics and Stellarium has an exclusive opportunity to have a look at the products that Laura will be pampering herself at the event in Kyiv. All the better - we can have a peek into Laura’s cosmetics bag!
In Tallinn, Laura’s schedule is quite varied: a meeting at the Parliament in connecton with work at HR Agency, rehersals before performances, meetings of the Estonian Jazz Union and performances in the evening. It means her days are often quite busy and it’s good to get ready already in the morning.
For Laura, makeup starts with a proper base and concealer. She likes to mix more expensive and cheaper brands. The foundation in her cosmetics bag is the newcomer Shisheido Synchro Skin Glow. It’s a refreshing, moisturising foundation that gives glow and smooths skin texture like serum. Another trustworthy companion is the makeup cream by Essence which has very good coverage. When the under-eye area needs a little pick-me-up, Make Up Store’s concealer offers a helping hand. For makeup to last longer, Laura uses MUD’s light base cream that gives glow and makes sure makeup doesn’t start to melt slowly. There also has to be a good powder that sets the whole makeup in the bag - Laura uses 100% natural mineral cosmetics brand Lily Lolo’s dust powder for that. Guerlain’s legendary powder is good for contouring - a little box fits many shades.
The singer says that the mascara by Essence is also part of her makeup routine and when she uses fake lashes, she also uses liner. To Eurovision, she will take the multifunctional Clarins pencil that hides four different shades you can use according to your mood. For eyeshadows, Laura prefers Urban Decay’s ‘Naked Basics’ palette the most. Some of the newer products that travel with her to Kyiv are Dr. Hauschka’s eye shadows, and the newest eyeshadow palette by NYX. A quicker eye makeup will be provided by Christian Dior’s dark purple creamy eye shadow.
When it comes to lips, Laura loves to experiment. Both nude tones and extreme purples look good on her. The plaette is wide! There is a new lipstick by Clarins in Laura’s bag, it’s nice and light and moisturises lips. The purple shades come from NYX and Essence colections. The nude shade is the newest lip gloss by Chanel that opens with a little click. Pink tone will be provided by Clinique’s matte lip tint. There’s plenty of choice! Laura says that she gets makeup inspiration from the renowned makeup artist Kaia Triisa whom she has a very good connection with. Kaia knows what Laura likes and she always manages to keep up with the singer’s crazy ideas. By the way, Laura’s cosmetics bag is a creation by one of the most famous British YouTube stars Zoella.
Laura knows that the most important thing in the evening is to remove makeup properly and nourish the skin. Since strong makeup is very common during Eurovision, Shisheido’s night mask and eye cream by Clarins come in handy. When it’s necessary to wake up early in the morning, Shisheido’s eye masks go under the eyes and they give a well-rested look in ten minutes. Laura says Hollywood’s GlamGlow mud mask is also among her favourites, also many products by Elemis that she made friends with at the Eforea Spa Hilton. “For example, the ‘Dynamic Resurfacing Gel Mask’ and ‘Frangipani Monoi Body Oil’ are excellent.” She will also bring the Organique Basic Tonic ‘Which Hazel’ that is a water-based toner enriched with extracts dervied from witch hazel leaves and bark.
Laura’s newest perfume is from Lanvin. She decided to go for the light perfume ‘Modern Princess’ that suitable for the spring. You can find pink apple and redcurrant at the top notes. The signature of the scent comes from sensual vanilla orchid and luxurious musc. It’s an ideal choice for Laura who is also a kind of a modern princess on Eurovision stage.
